Psychological research demonstrates the numerous benefits of smiling, and in particular the way in which smiling releases hormones which induce positive feelings and foster a sense of connection.
A community is seen to not be performing when loneliness is widespread, and neighbours can contribute to promote community connection. The challenge of motivating busy people to engage with their neighbour is the most significant barrier to achieving this connection.
This initiative will be developed to create a welcome pack helping new residents to the region by connecting with services, community groups, social groups etc. and by highlighting to longer term residents services and events.
This initiative is currently being developed to assist people to connect with others such as a physical space allowing a safe place to assist people to talk and connect; and printed material to assist conversation connections.
