End Loneliness Inc. “Empowering Connections – Ending Loneliness” is a group of local residents volunteering time and support to address loneliness in our community. This concept has been ongoing since December 2016 and has undertaken community forums, workshops and research. Most Australians will experience loneliness in their lifetime. 2018 research showed loneliness is experienced by one in four Australians with COVID-19 increasing these numbers. Loneliness does not discriminate it is impacting on all ages. Research according to Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre is costing the Australian Health Sector $2.7 billion annually. The project has four pillars Hello Neighbour, Smile Zones, Conversation Corners & Connectivity Packs. These spaces are intended to counter loneliness, prompting smiling, positive emotions & behaviour associated with fostering connectedness. Come and connect over cupcakes and a cuppa! Live music and conversation starters contributing to help reducing loneliness.
